Tears of Joy
(Soho, landmarks, lambeth fringe)
Tears of Joy is a multi-disciplinary, abstract storytelling of a mother, daughter and grandmother as they navigate grief, motherhood and intergenerational care.
This evocative, visually rich piece contains ebbs and flows that unfold largely around a bathtub.
Written with expression of care and support through a struggling mother, daughter and grandmother and their endless intergenerational giving. It touches on my own experiences of intergenerational living across 3 generations, caring for elder family members and the importance of negotiating independence during these moments.
It is lyrical and poetic and contains ebbs and flows like the sea. This work explores non-traditional theatrical forms.
This piece is also for those who have loved and lost.
"There were many tender, lump-in-the-throat moments" -Audience member
"A beautifully tender and powerfully eerie reflection of the pains and bonds between generations of women" - Audience member
